So I didn’t take a single picture because my husband took his super special awesome camera with him and I decided I’d rather ogle all the costumes and horses and dresses all day instead of try to get a good picture, haha. So these are all his photos.
First, it took us forever to get there — or at least a lot longer than I imagined. There were a lot more people there than I imagined, too, which was both awesome and annoying. Awesome because of all the costumes and fascinating people, annoying because I like my space and the shops were a bit cramped. Other than that, we were going to see some more events than just jousting, but we spent all of our time wandering around from shop to shop, and let me tell you, the place had a ton of shops with a ton of expensive and wonderful and fun things. I’m definitely going to lose some weight and get a dress and go all dressed up next year.
Oh! And last weekend was a pirate themed weekend (they do a different theme each weekend), so that’s why there’s more than a few of them in the gallery, heh. It was good fun.
We’re going back for the last weekend, which is a Celtic Christmas theme, so expect more pictures then. In the meantime, enjoy these and be sure to tell my husband how awesome his stuff is in the comments.
Have you ever been to a Renaissance festival? How was your experience?

Cool event – cool photos.. I’ve been to occasional ‘medieval’ events here in New Zealand – very similar, I suspect (though no Cybermen
). Some of them featured the Wellington sword-and-armour re-enactment group, who (carefully) stage fights with real weapons – years ago I was taught martial arts by the guy that runs the club. Spectacular and fairly dangerous, even thiough they’re extremely careful with each other.
The Cyberman was a nice surprise, for sure, heh. I would love to see some Wellington reenactment groups! Wellington is of course famous for LotR, and I think that’s awesome — dangerous for sure.
I also think it’s cool you know martial arts, haha.
The events at the Renaissance festival were simple enough. The jousting wasn’t exactly “jousting”, just charge forward with a lance and knock each other carefully off to put on a good show. It was fun anyway. We’re going back two more times this year for various themes, but mostly because it’s so fun! Expensive, but fun.
